Seeing your results

Your points appear on the course page as you work, in the panel showing how you are doing. You see your own results and nobody else’s.

What the numbers mean

  • Points earned out of the points available across the course.
  • Lessons complete out of the lessons in the course.
  • Waiting to be graded — written answers that need a person to read them.

Both totals count the whole course, not only the part you have reached, so the figure means the same thing on day one as on the last day.

Waiting to be graded

Written answers cannot be marked by the software. Yours sits in a queue until an instructor or an assistant reads it, and until then it counts as answered but not yet scored.

How long that takes is up to whoever runs the course. If it has been a while, ask them — Grapevine does not chase it for you.

If you think a mark is wrong

Ask. Any mark can be changed, including one the software awarded automatically, and the instructor can award full or partial credit once they have seen what you wrote.

The cases worth raising:

  • A fill-in-the-blank you answered correctly in different words. The automatic check forgives capitals, extra spaces and a full stop on the end — and nothing else. A synonym is marked wrong.
  • An all-or-nothing question you nearly got. Choose-all-that-apply, put-in-order and matching are scored as right or wrong with nothing in between. Five pairs correct out of six scores zero, and your instructor may well think that is worth something.

Say which question and what you put. “I think question 4 is wrong” takes two messages to resolve; “on question 4 I wrote Antioch, which I think is the same answer as Antioch in Syria” takes one.

What other people can see

Your instructor and any assistants can see your answers and your marks. Other students cannot see anything of yours.
