Your site’s name, logo and colour

In Site Admin, under the site’s own settings. Three things, each showing up in more places than you might expect.

The name

Appears in the top left of every page, in the browser tab, and in the emails Grapevine sends on your behalf — including sign-in links. So it is worth being the name your learners would recognise rather than an internal one.

The logo

Replaces the name in the top left. A wide, short image works best; it sits in a bar about 90 pixels tall and is scaled to fit.

Use something with a transparent background unless your logo’s own background matches the bar, and check it at small sizes — a logo with fine text in it becomes a grey smudge on a phone.

The primary colour

One colour, and it recolours the whole site: buttons, links, the active state on things, the progress bar.

Pick something with enough contrast against white. The colour is used for text on a pale background as well as for white text on a coloured button, so a pale brand colour that looks fine on a button becomes unreadable as a link. If your brand colour is light, use a darker version of it here — the site will still look like you.

What it does not change

  • The address. Your site’s domain is set when the site is made; renaming it here does not move it.
  • Anything on another site. These settings are yours alone, even where courses have been copied between sites.
  • The green used for completion. Ticks and “done” states have their own colour on purpose, so they still read as success whatever your brand colour is.

Saving

All the Site Admin panes are one form. Change the name here and something on another pane, and Save changes sends both — you do not need to save each pane as you go.
