The pages on your site

A Grapevine site is mostly courses, but it can carry ordinary pages too — an about page, a contact page, terms, anything your organisation needs beside the teaching.

They are in Site Admin → Pages.

Adding one

  1. Choose to add a page.
  2. Give it a title and write the content.
  3. Save.

It appears in your site’s navigation in the order the list shows.

Arranging them

Drag them into order. You can also nest a page one level under another, which gives you a drop-down in the navigation.

One level, and no further. A grandchild page is refused rather than quietly flattened into the level above — moving somebody’s page somewhere they did not put it is worse than declining to make it.

Drafts

A page can be saved without being published, which is how you write something over several sittings. A draft is not in the navigation and cannot be reached by address.

What pages are not for

Course content. It is tempting to put a reading list or a syllabus on a page and link to it, and it works — but it sits outside the course, so it is not part of anybody’s progress, it is readable by people who are not enrolled, and it does not travel when the course is copied to another site.

If it belongs to a course, make it a lesson.

Who can edit them

Site administrators only. Instructors and contributors manage courses; the site’s own pages are site administration.
