The Site Admin screen
Everything about your site — its name, its look, its people, its pages — is in one place, reached from the account menu at the top right. Choose Site Admin.
You do not need WordPress’s own administration area for any of it, and on most sites you will not have access to it. That is deliberate: the tools you need are here, in the words the product uses, rather than spread through an interface built for something else.
What is in it
The site itself
Its name, which appears in the top left of every page and in the emails Grapevine sends; your logo; and your primary colour, which recolours buttons and links across the whole site.
Money
Your currency, which sets what course prices are quoted and charged in. Change it before you price anything rather than after — it changes the unit, not the numbers, so a course priced at 95 becomes 95 of the new currency.
Card details for what Grapevine charges you, and the Stripe connection for taking payments from your own learners, are nearby. See Your card, and what you are charged for.
People
Everybody with an account on your site, what they can do, and the way to add or remove somebody. See People on your site.
Pages
The pages that make up your site besides the courses — an about page, a contact page, anything else. You can add, reorder and nest them one level deep. See The pages on your site.
Saving
The panes are one form. Change the name on one and the colour on another, and Save changes sends both together — you do not have to save each pane before moving on.
What Site Admin also gives you on courses
Holding Site Admin means you can do everything on every course on your site, whether or not you are enrolled on it — edit it, see its register, read its gradebook, change its settings.
Two consequences worth knowing. You will not appear in any course’s register, because you are not staff on that course’s rota. And you can see courses that are not published yet, which is how you check something before anybody else can reach it.
Site Admin is the most powerful thing you can give somebody on your site. Give it to the people who look after the site, and give instructors the instructor role on their own courses instead — see Giving and removing site access.
