What your customer can and cannot do

Their administrator holds Site Admin on their own site. That is genuinely their site to run — the list below is worth reading before you promise anything.

What they can do

  • Everything about their people. Add, remove, enrol, withdraw, grant Site Admin to colleagues.
  • Everything about their copies of your courses. Edit the lessons, change the questions, set prices, add modules, delete them.
  • Their site’s appearance and pages.
  • Create their own courses from scratch.
  • Take payments, if they connect their own Stripe account.

Note the second one. They can change your course. Once copied, their version is theirs — you cannot lock it, and you will not be told if they edit it. If the content matters to you commercially or reputationally, that is a conversation to have rather than a setting to find.

What they cannot do

  • See or reach your site, or any other customer’s.
  • Create further customer sites of their own.
  • Change who is billed for courses that came from you.

What you can still do on their site

You created it, so you can administer it — useful for helping them, and worth being honest about. From their side, somebody outside their organisation can see their learners and their results.

Most customers are entirely comfortable with that if it is said at the start, and uncomfortable if they discover it later.

Worth agreeing in advance

Four questions that are awkward later and easy now:

  • May they edit your courses? They can; do you mind?
  • Who adds learners — you, or them? It decides who absorbs the enrolment cost.
  • What happens when you update a course? Their copy does not change on its own. See Keeping a resold course up to date.
  • What happens at the end? Who keeps the site, and for how long.
