Adding a video
Also in ContributorsVideo is the commonest thing in a Grapevine lesson, and there are two ways to place it.
A video on its own
- In the lesson editor, add a Video block.
- Paste the address of the video.
- Save.
The video is embedded in the lesson. The reader plays it there; they are not sent to another site.
A video beside the text
Add a Video and text block instead. The video sits on one side and your words on the other, which suits a lesson where the writing is commentary on what is being watched.
On a phone the two stack, with the video first.
Where videos come from
Paste the address from the service the video is hosted on. Grapevine does not host video files itself — a course of forty videos is a hosting problem that video services exist to solve, and it is better handled by one of them than by your site.
Check the video’s own privacy setting matches the course. A video marked private on its host stays private even inside your lesson — the lesson will show an error to learners while playing perfectly for you, because you are signed in to the video service and they are not.
A course that is one video
Make a single lesson with no module, put the video in it, and stop. A course with exactly one lesson opens straight into it — the learner arrives at the video rather than at an outline with one row. See Modules and lessons.
